Lessons

I have a strong belief that composition is an underexplored aspect of music education. Most people, myself included, begin learning to play a musical instrument when they're young, with me beginning my musical journey when I was only 8 years old. They have lessons on their instrument and they progress and get better because of it. This is an amazing thing, but very few people ever learn to compose. When they do, they're usually a fair bit older than when they started playing an instrument, and they rarely have a teacher the same way I was taught to play the saxophone.

Whilst I'm of the belief that playing an instrument is very useful to composing, I don't think enough people realise they can learn it just like they learn an instrument. That is why I have a passion for music education.

If you would like to learn how to compose, I would love for you to get in contact with me. I offer affordable and personally tailored lessons to people of all skill levels, with a focus on those in the beginning to intermediate stages of their journey. Whether you're currently in your final year of school and want someone to help add finesse to your work, or if you have never composed before and are wondering where to start, then I would love to help you.
I have been developing a composition course designed to be taught in schools and privately to beginner composers, so I have put a lot of thought into how I teach composition. If you decide to learn with me, I will provide lessons based off this course, then tailored to your individual needs.

I also have a passion for writing pedagogical music, aimed at providing younger musicians with serious, exciting, and new music just like professionals play. If you are interested, I have them listed under my compositions tab
